ASEAN militaries discuss security issues via virtual conference in Brunei

The 11th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Military Operations Meeting (11th AMOM) convened virtually on Wednesday at Brunei's International Convention Center, with regional security issues on the agenda.

Chaired by Brigadier General Haji Abdul Razak, joint force commander of Brunei, the 11th AMOM discussed regional security issues and ways to enhance future military cooperation among ASEAN member states, according to Brunei's Ministry of Defense.

During the meeting, the heads of delegates exchanged views on current security issues and presented a two-year activity work plan for ASEAN militaries from 2021 to 2022, which will be submitted during the 18th ASEAN chiefs of defense forces meeting.

The meeting concluded with the official handover of the AMOM chairmanship to Yen Samnang, second secretary at the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in Brunei, representing the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.
