    On October 25th, 2019, with the approval of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China and the Supreme People’s Procuracy of Vietnam, a seminar on coordinated protection of border ecological environment resources and food safety was held in Chongzuo, Guangxi. Prosecutorial organs of Guangxi and its four Vietnamese border counterparts jointly discussed the ecological environment resources and food safety protection cooperation to maintain harmonious and stable development of Sino-Vietnam border areas. Dr. Cui Zhiyou, Chief Prosecutor of the People’s Procuratorate of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Mdm. Ho Thi Lan Anh, head of Vietnam delegation and Chief Prosecutor of the People’s Procuracy of Lang Son Province addressed the seminar.

    Cui pointed out that China and Vietnam are good comrades, good partners, good neighbors and good friends. Exchange and cooperation in various fields between the two countries have made important progress in the new era with the guideline of “long-term stability, future-orientation, good-neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation”. The prosecutorial organs of bordering areas have conducted a variety of judicial and cultural exchanges and cooperation to maintain social harmony and stability in the border areas, which has contributed to the economic and social development, and to the building of China-ASEAN community with a shared future. 
    Cui said, Guangxi prosecutorial organs deems ecological environment resources and food safety protection as the important work to safeguard public interests and serve the people in accordance with important instructions from President Xi, Prosecutor-General Zhang Jun and the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. We have explored actively coordinated protection on border areas’ ecological environment resources and food safety, intensified crackdown crimes on ecological environment resources and actively initiated public interest litigation in border areas to facilitate the law-based administration and governance through prosecutorial supervision. 
    Cui stressed that both sides faced new challenges in protection of ecological environment resources and food safety in the bordering areas. Consensus should be reached to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of ecological environment resources and food safety and provide strong legal support for maintaining border areas’ social harmonious and stability as well as safeguarding the common interests of the two peoples. Cui suggested both parties to further strengthen mutual exchanges, consolidate and deepen consensus reached in protection of ecological environment resources and food safety in border areas, include it into judicial assistance so as to upgrade judicial assistance between the two countries’ prosecutorial organs to a new level and make new substantive progress.
Mdm. Ho Thi Lan Anh responded that the Vietnam prosecution services would like to implement the important consensus reached by the bilateral high-level and the Supreme prosecutorial organs of both countries. The Vietnamese side is willing to constantly deepen criminal judicial assistance, strengthen judicial exchanges and cooperation, and crackdown on all kinds of crimes so as to form strength in protection of public interest and make contribution to jointly construct a border of green and environment-friendly, harmonious and rule by law. 
    Delegates of Sino-Vietnam prosecutorial organs and experts also explored practices on protection of ecological environment resources and food safety. At the conclusion of the meeting, a MOU on Coordinated Protection of Border Ecological Environment Resources and Food Safety was signed between the provicial procuratorates of Guangxi, China and Ha Giang, Cao Bang , Lang Son, Quang Ninh of Vietnam.
