Mr. William Tam, SC is Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions of the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. Currently, he occupies the position of Head of the Commercial Crime Sub-Division within the Prosecutions Division. He joined the Legal Department (as it then was) in 1994 and for many years he advised on and prosecuted corporate frauds and corruption matters. He was appointed as Deputy Director in 2012 and took silk in 2015. His work portfolios include advising, amongst other law enforcement agencies, the Independent Commission Against Corruption, the Securities and Futures Commission and the Commercial Crime Bureau on criminal matters and he also prosecutes criminal appeals from time to time in the Court of Appeal and the Court of Final Appeal in Hong Kong.
