China-ASEAN Prosecutors Exchange and Training Base host a training course for the Indonesian senior prosecutors

On September 19th, after 10 days of productive training and exchange, the training course for the Indonesian senior prosecutors organized by the National Prosecutors College Guangxi Branch and the China-ASEAN Prosecutors Exchange and Training Base concluded with cheers in the conference room at the second floor of the People's Procuratorate of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Before the closing ceremony, The 10 Indonesian prosecutors were excited to open a selfie mode. This course could not only aqcainted them with Chinese judicial system, but also strengthen the judicial cooperation between prosecution services of China and Indonesia.

 

According to a mutual agreement between the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China and The Attorney General’s Office of The Republic of Indonesia, China-ASEAN Prosecutors Exchange and Training Base hosted a 10-days training course from September 10th to 19th 2018 for 10 Indonesian senior prosecutors headed by Mr. WILLY ADE CHAIDIR, Head of Division Mess Media Relations at Legal Advice Centre. Ms. Chen Jieying, Director of Political Department of the People’s Procuratorate of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,Mr. Zhou Hongbo, Deputy President of National Prosecutors College of P.R.C, and Ms. Han Yi, Division Chief of Treaties and Regulations of International Cooperation Bureau of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China addressed the opening ceremony.

 

This course focused on exploring theoretical and practice capability of trainees. Practical subjects such as Chinese public prosecution system, Chinese criminal judicial system and rule of law, Chinese investigation supervision system, as well as Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the "Belt and Road" initiative, and prosecution systems of Macao and Malaysia were designed to let the trainees have something for reference, thinking and accomplish something in mind. Mr. Shi Weizhong, Deputy Director General of Department of Public Prosecution of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China, Mr. Yuan Shirong, Full-time member of the prosecutorial committee of the People’s Procuratorate of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Ms. Liu Ying, President of National Prosecutors College Guangxi Branch, Ms. Kuok Unman, Assistant Chief Prosecutor of Public Prosecution Office of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Mr. Saiful Edris bin Zainuddin, Deputy Head of Prosecution Division II, Attorney General’s Chambers Malaysia, gave lectures for the training course. During the training, the delegation was arranged to visit the informatization construction of Guangxi procuratorate,China-ASEAN Prosecutors Exchange and Training Base, the Official Website of the China-ASEAN Prosecutors General Conference, county-level procuratorate and Nanning Prison, attend court hearing, and exchange with participants of Guangxi procurators debating Competition, so as to make a comprehensive understanding of the socialist judicial system with Chinese characteristics and practices of public prosecution, investigation supervision and criminal enforcement.

 

Indonesian prosecutors deemed that this training program acquainted them with prosecution models of Mainland China, Macao and Malaysia, and also broadened their horizons. Mr. WILLY ADE CHAIDIR was impressed with the informatization construction of Guangxi procuratorate which promoted procuratorial work and improved judicial standardization.

 

 

After visiting Juvenile legal education and experience base and juvenile prosecution base of the People’s Procuratorate of Liubei Dictrict, Dr. PRINUKA ARROM, Head Sub Division of International Relations, said Guangxi Procuratorate established and funded juvenile prosecution division, Juvenile legal education and experience base and juvenile prosecution base, carried out various kinds of activities, which was a good reference for Indonesia.

 

 

 

Mr. WILLY ADE CHAIDIR highly appreciated Xi Jinping’s governance philosophy and the “Road and Belt” Initiative. He said constructing a shared future for mankind made great sense. We lived in the same Earth with the same fate, so we should make joint effort and cooperate with each other to face all the challenges.

 

 

Moreover, the course included some on-site teaching activities in Liuzhou and Guilin city. By visiting juvenile prosecution education and experience base, SAIC GM Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd., and Guilin City cultural construction, the Indonesian prosecutors gained a deeper understanding in China’s city culture, economic development and how Guangxi Procuratorate served the economics.

 

 

"We could not only have an in-depth understanding of the Chinese judicial system, including the prosecutors' working procedures, for instance, how to approve arrests, how to file a public prosecution, how to conduct legal supervision, etc., but also visit the amazing Comprehensive Command System of Guangxi Procuratorate, which is very advanced in remotely handling many procuratorial cases. What impressed me most is that Guangxi has a great prosecutor team. Many of them, especially women, dare to stand in the front to fight criminals which makes them admirable." Mr. SATRYA IKA PUTRA, Supervisor of Special Crime of the High Public Prosecution Office of Banten, had a deep feeling in this trip to China.

 

 

Mr. GILANG TOFANI S., Public Prosecutor at Legal and International Relations Bureau said excitedly when interviewed: "The curriculum of this training course is very novel. We have not only learned the theory of procuratorial modes in mainland China, Macao Special Administrative Region and Malaysia, but also gone to many places for on-site teaching, court hearings, exchange with county-level procuratorates. For a young prosecutor just like me, this trip to China will be very helpful to my future career development. "
