On November 21, 2017, Chinese Prosecutor General Cao Jianming held working meeting with Cambodian Prosecutor General Chea Leang at the General Prosecutors Office to the Supreme Court of Cambodia.
Cao Jianming expressed his appreciation to Chea Leang for her warm invitation and hospitality. He said that China and Cambodia are friendly neighbors and important partner. The two peoples are bound together by ties of fraternal friendship. Currently, the China-Cambodia relations have maintained a momentum of sound development which has brought tangible benefits to the two countries and their people. The exchange and cooperation in judicial area is of vital importance to boost bilateral ties. In recent years, Chinese procuratorial organs and its Cambodian counterpart have maintained close contacts and frequent exchanges. The Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China would like to take the opportunity of this visit to actively implement the important consensus reached by the two state leaders, so as to constantly enrich the connotation of bilateral strategic partnership.
Cao Jianming briefed the Cambodian side on the Nineteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He added that the Nineteenth National Congress of CPC has described a blueprint of Chinese characteristic socialism in new era as well as the roadmap of deepening rule of law which provides a broader space of the exchange and cooperation for judicial organs between China and Cambodia. Therefore, we should continue to actively promote the high-level exchanges and visits, be more supportive and cooperative in multilateral mechanism, and jointly to maintain and develop the China-ASEAN Prosecutors-General Conference mechanism, deepen cooperation and work together to meet threats and challenges from traditional transnational crimes and new crimes. What’s more, both sides should take advantage of the China-ASEAN Prosecutors-General Conference official website and the China-ASEAN Prosecutors Exchange and Training Base to use each other’s experience for mutual reference, improve capacity of striking crimes, so as to serve the two peoples.
Chea Leang extended her warmly welcome to Cao Jianming. She said Cao Jianming’s visit coincided with the 10th anniversary of the signing of cooperation agreements between the procuratorial organs of two sides. Stepping on a new historical starting point, the Cambodian side is willing to actively learn experiences on social governance and rule of law development from the Chinese side, improve law enforcement and advance multilateral judicial cooperation to a higher level, so as to promote the Cambodian-Chinese prosecutorial relations more dynamic and fruitful.
On the same afternoon, Cao Jianming also held working meeting with Ang Vong Vathana, the Cambodian Minister of Justice.
The two sides agreed to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship, expand exchanges and use each other’s experience from rule of law, jointly study legal issues related to "Belt and Road" initiative, and constantly deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Cui Zhiyou, Chief Prosecutor of the People’s Procuratorate of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Jia Zhihong, Chief Prosecutor of the People’s Procuratorate of Hainan Province, Feng Jian, Acting Chief Prosecutor of the People’s Procuratorate of Sichuan Province and Xiong Bo, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia also attended the meetings.
